Dance is a form of exercise so please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in, jeans and a top/shirt are perfectly acceptable on a weekly evening. Shoes should ideally be leather soled or with a smooth surface. Trainers, flip flops or high heels are not practical. You will get warm when dancing so if you are perceptible to perspiring then please bring a second top and deodorant with you to change into during the evening.
Do I need to bring a partner?
Modern Jive is a sociable dance style and is perfectly acceptable for a man or woman to come alone. We always have a number of new dancers walking through our doors every week so you will never be the only one. Also, we rotate partners during the lessons so you get a chance to meet new friends and learn how to 'lead & follow'.
Do I have to come every week or book a course?
Modern Jive is a flexible dance and we teach with a 'come as your feel like it' approach. If you miss one week it doesn't matter as we teach different moves for each lesson and you will gradually build your styling at your own speed and ability.
Warning! Learning to Jive can be very addictive
'I just wanted to say a huge thankyou to you all for making me feel so welcome at my first lesson last night at Burgess Hill. I was really nervous about coming along but everyone was so friendly and helpful that I had an amazing time! I was so pleased that I managed to pick up the steps fairly easily and was soon twirling all over the dancefloor with a big smile on my face! Thanks for a fantastic evening, will see you all again very soon' (received 3rd July 2008 via JM)
